Letter From University

May 8, 2009

To the men of the Iota Delta Chapter of Delta Tau Delta:

As you are well aware, you were placed on probation with Quincy University on March 13, 2009 and were given specific stipulations to follow while you were under this probationary status. Since you have been on probation, you have shown more fiscal responsibility by doing a fundraiser and getting dues from members of the fraternity. However, there still seems to be some disorganization with the fraternity.

After numerous requests for community service hour reports, I still haven’t received the completed community service hour reports from March or April. Also, the lack of judgment that the fraternity showed on Sunday, April 26, 2009 is an indication that disorganization and lack of maturity still exist among the leadership of the fraternity. By choosing to have a party involving alcohol at the Delt house, you clearly paid no respect to the probationary conditions that had been set forth by Quincy University. Therefore, based on the parameters of your probation, the next step is to remove the privilege of living in the 2006 Lind Street residence. Although this was a step the University had hoped to avoid, you have given us no choice by the actions that you have chosen to display in the recent months.

If you have any questions or more information about the matter at hand, I would be happy to meet with you. However, in the mean time, each member who was planning to live at 2006 Lind Street for the 2009-2010 academic year, must stop by Student Affairs to speak with Heather about switching their housing. If you have not made other arrangements for 2009-2010 housing by May 15th, your new housing arrangements will be chosen for you.

Sincerely,

Crystal Sutter
Director of Student Development

Cookbook

I am sure many of you have heard about the upcoming cookbook. The idea was brought up by Brother Kyle Leonard to create a cookbook to raise money for the chapter. So if you or a family member has a recipe they are willing to part with please e-mail them to the chapter's e-mail address qudelts@hotmail.com so we can forward them to Brother Leonard.

Quincy University held their 21st annual leadership award ceremony on May 5th and Iota Delta is proud to announce the following awards were awarded to different brothers. Junior member of the Pi class Jacob McGuire was awarded "Most Philanthropic" for the chapter. Jacob is the service and social chairman for the chapter and has been involved in many service projects around campus and has provided the chapter many service opportunities. Jacob most recently went on a mission trip to New Mexico. Kevin Hahn was awarded in "Academic Excellence" for having the highest GPA in the chapter. Kevin is a freshman member of the Sigma class and currently serves the chapter as Risk Management and activities chair. He was also given an award from Student Senate. Also receiving a non-chapter award was Kyle Leonard. Finally, to wrap up the awards the chapter named their choice for "Delt of the Year." A Year in Review

The academic year started off with high hopes of bring in new men to our historic fraternity, and did not fail. Although, the chapter did hit a bump in the road in the middle part of this academic year, the chapter managed to add some key components to the future success of our chapter. In the Fall Rush, the chapter initiated the Sigma class which included three freshman and two juniors. Those men were Bill Filipiak, Tim Miller, Kevin Hahn, Jarad Magurany, and Dan LaRocco. Filipiak, Miller, Hahn, and LaRocco quickly stepped into executive board positions. Filipiak serves the chapter as Sergeant at Arms, Miller as Treasurer, and LaRocco as Secretary. Magurany the last member of the class serves the chapter as Pledge Educator. Many of the brothers found the time to participate in other activities around campus and mission trips also. With the successful Rush the chapter was delighted to hear that they not only the highest GPA amongst all Greek organizations on campus. The elections in November brought to the chapter huge changes having only two executive board returnees. Mark Webb was elected President of the chapter Iota Delta, Jake Egelhoff Vice President, Tim Miller Treasurer, Kevin Hahn Risk Management, Pat Moore Rush Chairman, Dan LaRocco Secretary, John Bruzan Academic Affairs, and Bill Filipiak Sergeant at Arms. Hahn and LaRocco are currently finishing their freshman year. With new changes and a positive attitude going into the Spring semester the chapter added seven men welcoming Tino Mirabelli, Ivan Shirkov, Mike Varrone, Ken Medo, Brian Silverstein, Adam Barr, and Baxter Grace to the chapter. Also in the Spring the chapter sent Mark Webb, Jake Egelhoff, Kevin Hahn, Tim Miller, Pat Moore, Dustin Gorder(Alum), and Ryan Schumacher(Alum) to the 2009 Northern Division Conference. In the tail in of the semester, the chapter held a successful Bags Tournament in the Health and Fitness Center raising over $600 for the chapter. For philanthropy, the chapter will be donating to Bleed Purple. The chapter was also happy to hear they will be represented at the 2009 Sailing Leadership Academy by Brother Dan LaRocco. The chapter is excited how the year has ended and is optimistic about the future with our young chapter. Unfortunately, the chapter has been informed of the loss of the shelter for the 09’-10’ school year.
